Very few organisations in India has had the kind of impact

that the Indian National Congress has had on Indian society,

politics and culture. Be it in pre-independence India or post-

1947 India, a huge number of political workers and activists

who have peopled other indian political parties, in many

instances started their political life with the Indian National

Congress.

It gives me great pride in publishing this Brief History

of Indian National Congress by a diehard congressman.

Deba Prasad Ray, a former member of the parliament in the

Rajyasabha has penned a lucid and informative history of the

Indian National Congress which will prove to be an invaluable
